Our Story

Caridina Pen Company was born from a love of careful craftsmanship and meaningful writing. Our name comes from Caridina, a genus of freshwater shrimp admired for their quiet beauty and graceful presence. They are small, patient creatures, a reminder to slow down and appreciate the details.

Each pen we create carries that same spirit — thoughtfully designed, patiently crafted, and inspired by the natural world. Every model is named after the nature and wildlife that it evokes, celebrating the beauty and diversity of nature in every piece we make.

Caring for your pen

Each Caridina pen is crafted to last a lifetime — and with a little care, it will only grow more beautiful with age.

General Care:

  • Always cap your pen when not in use to prevent the nib from drying.
  • Store your pen in its included box or in a pen case to avoid scratches.
  • Avoid dropping or twisting the pen excessively — wooden and acrylic bodies, while durable, are still fine instruments.

For Wooden/Ebonite Pens
Ebonite is a natural, vulcanized rubber that develops a warm patina over time.

  • Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.

  • Occasionally wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.

  • If you’d like to restore a subtle sheen, a drop of pure mineral oil or a silicone-free pen polish can be used sparingly.

  • Ebonite is made through vulcanization, a process that involves concentrated sulphur, so if the inside of your pen smells a little off, don't worry, it should fade within a few weeks of use.

For Acrylic Pens
Acrylic is more resistant to sunlight and moisture but can scratch if mishandled.

  • Clean with a microfiber cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners.

  • For ink staining, flush thoroughly with water and a small amount of pen-safe cleaner if needed.

Nib & Filling System
Each Caridina pen uses a Jowo #6 nib and a standard international converter.

  • Flush the nib and converter with cool water whenever changing inks.

  • Avoid using India inks or pigmented inks unless you are comfortable cleaning the pen very frequently.

Your pen was made to be used — a little routine care will keep it smooth, reliable, and beautiful for years to come.
